Plan to Reuse What You Purchase For Your Wedding Day!

It used to be that a bride would have a trousseau for her wedding that would help her to have clothes for the 1st month or two after marriage.  It was also common for brides to wear their wedding gowns at weddings of their friends during the 1st year of marriage.  Where has the thought of not using your wedding gown again come from.  The answer is obvious – fashion.  While some dresses can never be worn again by you – they can be worn by others!  The likelihood of your daughter wearing your dress is slim.  Donate or consign your dress if you don’t think you can wear it again.

Making Memories is a great charity if you plan on donating your dress.  They receive your dress and sell it for helping women with breast cancer.

If you have a simpler gown….think about shortening the length and adding a funaccent to the dress in color!  It will be a great way for you and you hubby to remember your wedding day.

The easiest way to reuse items from your wedding day are your shoes!  With larger dresses your shoes will not be seen much by the guest list anyway!  Always wanted those green or blue Jimmy Choo shoes?  Those fantastic Purple Kate Spades?  Why not splurge to buy them for your wedding day!  You can wear them again and again!

Your jewelry should also be something to consider.  This does not mean you need to buy something simple!  You can buy earrings that match the colors of your wedding day…like these earrings that matched the shoes and the colors of her wedding!

With the flower girls, don’t buy them a white fluffy dress that they might only play dress up in!  Find them a cute dress that she will love to wear again and match the colors of your wedding day!

When it comes to your groom, renting a tuc may not be the best eco-friendly choice.  Remember all of their garments have to be dry cleaned and the majority of the dry cleaners today do use PERC-free solutions.  I always suggest a suit with a fantastic tie that he can wear again.  He will look stunning still and you will relish in your wedding day all over again ever time he wears it!
